Securing a Major Deal for 216,000 N95 Facemasks with One Email Newsletter
The Client
Grunber is a nationwide junk removal services small business headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. Specializing in residential and commercial services, it has served over 1,750 customers nationwide, including Lego, Amazon, HD Supply, and Nutre Meal Plans.
Grunber connects a nationwide team of independent contractor junk haulers with junk jobs in their preferred areas. Services include cardboard recycling, scrap metal recycling, junk removal, pallet removal, eWaste, commercial services, and emergency services.
The Challenge
Repeat business is big business. It costs five times more to acquire a new customer than to keep a current one. Loyal customers spend 67% more on products and services than new customers. And repeat customers refer 50 percent more people than one-time buyers.
Knowing this, Grunber was ready to tap into the power of repeat business while leveraging warm inbound leads. They were prepared to add an email newsletter targeted at their customers to their digital marketing strategy. Grunber CEO and Founder Leonardo Vargas and his team took to the internet to find a partner to help them bring their vision to fruition, encouraging repeat business while expanding customer outreach.
The Solution
Vargas discovered my services and the value I brought with email marketing expertise and digital marketing-based solutions. I built comprehensive email marketing plans that independently targeted commercial and residential customers. Digging deep into the analytics, I segmented groups based on interest, built out a custom welcome email sequence, and launched a monthly email newsletter. I branded the email newsletters, built custom templates aligned with their brand messaging, and incorporated all the elements Grunber wanted to include.
The Results
Less than a year into the partnership, Grunber closed a substantial deal with a repeat customer. The client operates in a significant industry, importing N95 masks from China.
Eighteen pallets filled with 216,000 N95 face masks were no longer required and needed removal. When they saw this email newsletter I sent to commercial customers in February 2024, they contacted Grunber and scheduled a junk removal pickup for the face masks.

Vargas says, “We’ve successfully closed a deal with a previous customer who reached out to us after seeing our email marketing campaign. They’ve engaged us to handle the removal and proper recycling of 18 pallets of mask packaging. This amounts to a total of 216,000 masks, all of which are packaged in cardboard boxes.” Through Grunber’s partnership with a recycling company, all the cardboard boxes, pallets, and masks were responsibly recycled, aligning with their commitment to sustainability.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional marketing strategies [Alicia Norton Visuals] implemented for Grunber. [Her] efforts have not only increased our visibility but also directly contributed to securing this valuable partnership.”
